Weekend Events for July 29-30

It’s the last weekend of July. Pretty soon you’ll be shopping for school supplies and thinking about your Labour Day plans. Take advantage of the remaining time you have for summer vacation this weekend. Here are your weekend events for July 29 and 30.

Concerts in the Park – Sundays and Wednesdays to August 13

Concerts in the Park continue on July 30 at 7:30pm with a performance from The Lincoln Concert Band. Visit the Central Park Bandshell for free musical entertainment every Sunday and Wednesday until August 13. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Check the event website for the up-to-date lineup.

Nature Connects® art with LEGO® Bricks – Daily to August 20

Take a stroll through the Royal Botanical Gardens’ Hendrie Park and explore the 14 works of art created with Lego by New York artist, Sean Kenney.  Kids will have a great time at the Build Centre creating their own masterpieces. Be sure to pick up an activity book and check the daily schedule for guided tours.

The RBG weekend events include guided tours/walks and Edible Weekends.

Farmers’ Markets – Friday-Sunday to October

Load up on farm fresh items and shop local producers at one of our two farmers’ markets.  Friday (8am to 4pm) and Saturday (8am to 2pm) visit the Burlington Mall Lions Farmers’ Market. On Sunday (9am to 12pm) head to downtown Burlington for the Centro Garden Farm Market.

Open Studio Workshop – Sundays

Join the Art Gallery of Burlington in their Creative Hub for a drop-in art studio workshop every Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.  While there, check out their new Terry Fox Exhibition  as well as the other exhibitions throughout the gallery.

 Fit In The Core – Sundays to August 20

Burlington’s Fit In The Core sessions continue on July 30 from 10am to 11am with a Yoga Movement class presented by 440 Fitness. After improving your yoga and meditation skills, The Bent Spoon will be distributing samples of their edible raw cookie dough. Every Sunday there is a different open air fitness class outside City Hall. Bring your mat and water bottle.

Meditation Hike  –SOLD OUT– July 29

Though this weekend’s hike is sold out but Conservation Halton parks are open to explore. The next meditation hike is on August 26. Remember to register online in advance. Hike through a Halton Park while learning the basics of meditation. Improve your fitness while connecting with nature. Wear clothing appropriate for exercising and hiking over terrain.Bring your water bottle. No experience necessary.

Royal Astronomical Society Star Fest – July 29

You are invited to join the Hamilton/Burlington branch of the Royal Astronomical Society at the Spencer Smith Park reflecting pool for star gazing in celebration of Canada 150. Bring your own equipment or use one of their telescopes to observe the setting sun, stars, and planets that populate the night sky. The event runs from 6pm to 10pm and is weather dependent so check their website for ongoing updates.

Korean War Memorial – July 30

Attend the Korean Ships Memorial at the Spencer Smith Park Naval Monument at 10am. Remember and learn about the Canadian sacrifices that occurred during the Korean War.



Burlington is a busy and vibrant city. There are many more opportunities to enjoy the weather and engage in the community this weekend…
