This Weekend in Burlington – June 3/4
Can you believe it’s June already? The month of May gave us a taste of warmer weather and June is on track to catapult us into summer vacation. Temperatures are heating up and school is coming to a close, so there are more opportunities to get outside and embrace the summer vibes in Burlington. Here are your weekend events for June 3-4.
Nature Connects® art with LEGO® Bricks – Daily to August 20
Take a stroll through the Royal Botanical Gardens’ Hendrie Park and explore the 14 works of art created with Lego by New York artist, Sean Kenney. Kids will have a great time at the Build Centre creating their own masterpieces. Be sure to pick up an activity book and check the daily schedule for guided tours. On June 4, the exhibit will be closing at 1pm and the Rock Garden will be closed all day to prepare for The Tenors performance.
The RBG weekend events include the include blooms festivals, guided tours/walks, entertainment and more!
Yoga in the Park – Sundays to July 2
Join the City of Burlington and fully qualified volunteer instructors in a different park each week for outdoor yoga. Bring your yoga mat and/or towel, appropriate clothing and water. All levels welcome.
Farmers’ Markets – Friday-Sunday to October
Load up on farm fresh items and shop local producers at one of our two farmers’ markets. Friday (8am-4pm) and Saturday (8am-2pm) visit the Burlington Mall Farmers’ Market. On Sunday (9am-noon) head to downtown Burlington for the Centro Garden Market. If you’re worried about the weather, Centro’s most up to date status is available on their Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Open Studio Workshop – Sundays
Join the Art Gallery of Burlington in their Creative Hub for an open studio workshop every Sunday from 1-4pm. On June 11 and 25, embrace your inner artist and make a chime for the “AGB Garden of Chimes” community exhibition opening July 1st.
Fit In The Core – Sundays to August 20
Burlington’s Fit In The Core sessions kick off on June 4 with Kinetic Yoga and Pilates. Every Sunday from 10am – 11am in Brant Street’s Civic Square there will be a different fitness class. Bring your mat and water bottle. Check their website for class info.
Burlington Food Tours – June 3 – SOLD OUT
The Burlington Food Tour on June 3 is sold out. However, there are more opportunities to explore Burlington’s unique food scene. The next Food Tour is on July 15 the tickets are on sale now. Email Burlingtonfoodtours@hotmail.com for tickets.
The Burlington Herd will be taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs at Nelson Park on June 3. Game starts at 1:05pm. Come cheer on these hometown athletes.
City of Burlington’s Kite Festival – June 4
Burlington’s annual Kite Festival is happening on Sunday June 4 from 11am to 4pm at Brant Hills Community Centre and Brant Hills Park. Help decorate the sky with diverse colours and shapes by bringing a Kite from home or bring your crafting skills to build your own. Spend the day enjoying performances, workshops, face painting, and balloon animals. For a complete schedule and events times, visit the event website.
The Tenors A Signature Performance – June 4
The multi-platinum trio will be showcasing their award-winning vocals in Royal Botanical Gardens’ Hendrie Park on June 4 at 7:30pm. Doors open at 5:30pm. For information on general admission or members-only VIP tickets, check out the event page.
