Virtual Kids Variety Show at the AGB
At the AGB, Art Camp Goes Virtual with a Kids’ Variety Show
Like many galleries and museums large and small, the Art Gallery of Burlington has had to think outside of the box to create a camp experience for children across Burlington this summer. In response to this challenge, we’ve created an online program showcasing the abilities and personalities of a diverse group of artists and musicians who lead children and families through a unique virtual experience.
The AGB Kids Variety Show takes inspiration from children’s educational television past and present! Each episode, an artist and musical guest walks viewers through an exciting art project using “ingredients” commonly found at home. While the program is designed with children 7-12, family members of all ages can join the fun— there is something for everyone.

Activities and program themes are inspiring and designed to introduce viewers to the experimental approaches of contemporary artists. Simple materials like potatoes, ground spices, and paper towels are the tools to create fun art projects each episode. Artists will go live from their studios and children will have a chance to understand where the ideas and inspirations of the artists come from.
Each guest musician will bring learning and a musical accompaniment to every episode. Nima Farzaneh, an accordion player, will provide the soundtrack for episodes 1 and 3 and encourage children to explore the relationship between art and music. Two episodes will feature the musical stylings of Juno-award winning artist Sarah Slean, whose illustrious career has led her to collaborate with musicians Rufus Wainwright, Feist, Ron Sexsmith, and more.
