Valentine’s Day Date Ideas

by Linda Cvetanovic

The clock is ticking and the pressure is on to find just the right way to show that special someone how much you care (or at least that what advertisers would have us believe). With that in mind, we thought we’d offer some Valentine’s Day Date Ideas here in Burlington.

The Classic – Dinner for Two

While it might seem cliche, escaping the kitchen and enjoying an intimate dinner for two is a great way to enjoy Valentine’s Day.  Many local restaurants are running special promotions and menus or turn up the romance and choose one that has special meaning like where you had your first date or proposed.  For a full list of restaurants click/tap here.

Take it Outdoors

If you and your partner are the more active type (and don’t mind bundling up for your date), grab a warm drink from one of the many downtown cafes then take a stroll hand in hand down to the waterfront for some outdoor skating at Rotary Centennial Pond with beautiful views of Lake Ontario.

Enjoy the Arts

Get tickets for one of the musical artists performing this weekend at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre.  Friday night (Feb 12) you can catch Stuart Laughton as part of the Live & Local Music Series or on Sunday get classical with Romance: Symphony on the Bay.  Post show head to a downtown restaurant for coffee & dessert or a nightcap.

If the visual arts are more your thing, enjoy a waterfront walk to the Art Gallery of Burlington for Grace Eun Mi Lee’s exhibition “Dust” and perhaps pick up a little something special at the Art Etc. Gallery shop.

Relax and Unwind

In today’s stressful world, we can all use some downtime and what better way to unwind than a spa day with your sweetie.  Can you say couples massage?  Check out our local spas and book now.

Escape without going away

With the snow and cold finally making an appearance, you can escape without going away. Book at overnight stay at one of the many hotels in the city, enjoy a swim and then head to the Royal Botanical Gardens. Saunter in the tropical temperatures of the indoor gardens, sit and reflect at the koi pond and finish with a meal at a nearby Aldershot restaurant.

Of course, you don’t have to go out to have the perfect date night – take-out and netflix can be pretty good too 🙂

Wishing you a Happy Valentine’s Day!
