Taste of Burlington 2016

At this year’s A Taste of Burlington Winter launch, thirteen of the finest Burlington restauranteurs served up some of the best winter comfort foods, all under one roof!

If you weren’t there for the feast, here is a highlight of the night’s delicious dishes:

To start, I had to have this super colourful and yummy citrus & almond quinoa salad from Beaver and Bulldog!

I went right to entrée after salad because well, just look at that Herb Crusted Angus Beef Tenderloin stuffed with Wild Mushrooms & Prosciutto. Complimented by Yorkshire Pudding, Redskin Potato & Roasted Garlic Mash. Finished with a Brandy Demi!

This was presented by Alloro restaurant, a new restaurant to participate at the TOB launch.

What also attracted the attention of many attendees was the full-sized plate, showing what would be served at their restaurant, located in the Burlington Holiday Inn.

Another amazing dish that’s sure to warm you up on any wintry day is this steak and wild mushroom Wellington, drizzled with a Gorgonzola and double smoked bacon cream sauce.  I’ve attended a couple TOB launches and I have to say that Queen’s Head Pub never disappoints.

Ivy Bar, 1st place winner of the People’s Choice Award at the TOB Summer 2015 launch and winner of the Best Taste Award at the TOB Winter 2015 launch served up crab and lobster cakes with key lime crème fraîche and sundried cranberry and Napa slaw.

Winner of the “farthest travelled vendor” award goes to the Visit Myrtle Beach booth!

Although this award doesn’t really exist ;), the folks at Myrtle Beach not only brought some local goodies (Southern Pimento Cheese with crackers, butter roasted & salted pecans, double chocolate covered pecans), but they also are running a contest for TOB-goers to win a 5-day/4-night trip for two to Myrtle Beach!  And did you know that they are also one of Burlington’s sister cities?!

No winter feast is complete without soup! Made with green curry and coconut milk, Water St. Cooker’s vegetarian curry was perfectly paired with a warm slice of naan.
