With summer’s arrival and people antsy to get out and perhaps book a little getaway you may be wondering if it is safe to stay in hotels or motels? 

The Hotel Association of Canada and the American Hotel and Lodging Association have collectively developed enhanced industry wide health and cleaning standards to adapt to new pandemic standards.

Before you book, ask the hotel to provide an outline of their health and safety steps so you feel reassured that they are taking every precaution to protect guests.  You can also do your part by not travelling if you are sick, using a face mask, maintaining physical distancing and avoiding areas such as elevators where distancing is difficult.

In Burlington our hotels have tightened their safety standards and are promoting their cleaning protocols in addition to adopting physical distancing steps.  They are eager to welcome you to their properties and explore our beautiful city.  Here are some examples of protocols in place at some of our local accommodations.  Note that some facilities and amenities may not be open.

As they closely monitor changes in government policy, Courtyard by Marriott Burlington has been taking proactive measures throughout their hotel:

  • Rooms are kept unoccupied for 72 hours after check-out, then thoroughly cleaned by staff before checking in a new guest
  • They are using high-quality cleaners and disinfectants for all the rooms and major areas including the high-touch areas and surfaces
  • Hand Sanitizing stations are placed strategically throughout the hotel
  • They are supporting social distancing efforts
  • Their pool, fitness centre and Bistro are temporarily closed however they serve Starbucks Coffee, beverages and prepared food in their 24 hour Market and their patio is open.
