Mother’s Day in #BurlON

by Kelly Harris

Sunday May 13 is the day we celebrate Mother’s Day; whether you call her Mom, Mum, Ma, Mama or Mother, it’s a day to say thanks for who they are and all that they do for you.  Being a Mom to two children, I know it’s a day I look forward to each year and enjoy seeing what the kids (and my hubby) plan for me. Looking to celebrate Mother’s Day in #BurlON?  We have some ideas to help make your Mother’s Day planning easier as there is lots to see & do in Burlington.

Champagne Tea at Ireland House

Get an early start to the big day with the Mother’s Day Champagne Tea on May 12 at Ireland House Museum. Guests will enjoy a glass of champagne and champagne infused desserts and tea. Get Mom something from the museum gift shop and receive 25% off. Each sitting will also feature a tea reading for Mom and a guided tour of the Museum.  There are three seatings available – 11:00 am, 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm and tickets must be purchased in advance  (12 years and older please).

Celebrate Mom at the RBG

Enjoy Mother’s Day at the RBG. It’s a popular spot so their Brunch and Afternoon tea are both sold out. However, you can still take Mom and enjoy a stroll through the beautiful gardens. They are offering a Get Back to Nature Hike from 2-3:30. Contact them directly for the meet-up location.

Crawford Lake

Crawford Lake offers a Wildflower Walk for Mom from 1:00-3:00. This is a popular event so don’t delay getting your tickets.  You can also visit Crawford Lake and enjoy a beautiful walk around the lake or hike to Rattlesnake Point – it’s a great way to get outdoors and spend the day with Mom.

See the 1912 Grand Trunk railway station and 2 display buildings. Bring a picnic lunch or visit their snack bar and don’t forget the ice cream shop! No reservations are needed.

Live Shows

Burlington Performing Arts Centre is offering a 3pm show on Mother’s Day – Symphony on the Bay; From Rags to Riches featuring music by Gershwin, Bach, Elgar and more!  Or visit Drury Lane Theatre for their show ‘Curtains’. at 2 pm on Mother’s Day.
