Holiday Gift Guide 2018

by Kelly Harris

Need help with your holiday shopping? We found lots of great ideas right here in #BurlON for unique gifts for everyone on your list.

We started our shopping in Downtown Burlington and enjoyed strolling down Brant Street. We popped into  Pure Boutique and loved these socks. Perfect for those ladies on your list, we even added them to our own wish list.

Keeping with the sock theme, we went into Bush’s Menswear a couple doors over and loved their display of men’s socks. They have fun, festive socks but if you have a more traditional gent to buy for, then they also have a nice assortment of striped socks.

One of our favourite places to shop during the holiday season (ok, lets be honest; all the time!) is Springridge Farm.  Their gift barn has something for everyone and while you’re there you can get some of their fresh baked goods to take home.  We loved these festive tins of hot chocolate and fun mugs which would make a great gift for pretty much anyone on your list.

No stocking is complete without treats and our friends at Mrs. B’s Gifthouse have that covered for us. One stop there and we were able to stock up on biscotti of all types and flavours freshly made on the premise.

We stopped by Joelle’s in Downtown Burlington and loved these fun mittens.  They make the perfect gift for a good friend, teacher or pretty much any woman on your list and at just $20 a pair you can’t go wrong.  While at Joelle’s, wander through to the back of the store where you’ll enter Jeff’s Guy Shop with a great assortment of men’s clothing and accessories. How easy is that? Get the men and ladies on your list done in one place!

The holidays are usually busy with entertaining so we stopped by the beautiful new Denninger’s store at Burlington Centre.  They have an amazing assortment of gift baskets in all price ranges. They make a great gift and are stocked full of great products that can then be used for entertaining. A thoughtful gift that would definitely be appreciated.

If you’re looking for something unique, we suggest trying the gift shop at the Art Gallery of Burlington. It’s a beautiful gift shop with lovely gift items, many of which are Canadian made.  Another great gift shop is at the Royal Botanical Gardens.  They have a wonderful assortment of books, jewellery and pretty much everything you can think of.  We recently stopped at Ireland House Museum and their gift shop had been restocked for the holidays with great Christmas ornaments and other small gift items.

One gift you can never go wrong with is flowers. Who doesn’t like having fresh flowers in the house, especially at the holiday season. Our friends at Brant Florist can certainly help you with that. We love walking through their shops – the sights and smells are amazing. Visit them on Brant Street or give them a call and they will be glad to help you arrange your order.

We hope this has helped you with some ideas for your own holiday shopping. Try to shop local as much as possible and support the Burlington retailers.  Burlington has so much to offer with unique boutiques and stores,  a great downtown area with free parking all December long (maximum 3 hours on the street) and 2 great malls – Burlington Centre and Mapleview Centre.

Make sure you also check out our Experiences Gift Suggestions – there are so many great things to do in Burlington, so why not give someone the gift of something special – time together!

Happy Shopping and Happy Holidays!
