Father’s Day Weekend 2016
This Father’s Day weekend it’s all about dad! If your looking for something that dad can do with the whole family then Burlington is the place to be! Check out this list of great events and activities to celebrate with that special guy in your life.
Sound of Music Festival
June 16-June 19
Starting Thursday night, make your way to Spencer Smith Park for 4 days of FREE music at the Sound of Music Festival. Dad (and the family) are sure to find something to suit their musical tastes because this festival has it all. You can check out the full lineup here. Be sure to also check out the Grande Parade on Saturday morning and Downtown Burlington Streetfest bringing music and entertainment to the streets.
Springridge Farm Food Truck Festival
Nosh your way through the bevy of food trucks coming to Springridge Farm this weekend. Foodie dads and families will have a great time trying the culinary delights and then visit the fun farmyard where kids can burn off some energy and dads can relax and watch them play or join in the fun!
Join the Museums of Burlington at Ireland House to celebrate dad with a delicious, old-fashioned, outdoor pancake breakfast. Make plans to stay and tour the museum as well as the other Father’s Day activities happening on Sunday.
Explore with Dad
Grab your wellies and head to Conservation Halton’s Mountsberg Park for some Father’s Day exploring. Spend time exploring the marsh and looking for pond creatures and then finish up around a campfire for a good old-fashioned hot dog roast. Make sure to leave time to visit the Birds of Prey and the rest of the park. *Pre-registration required
Bring dad to ride the rails at the Streetcar Museum. Dad’s get free admission with the purchase of a youth ticket.
Discovery in the Gardens
Is dad more of an outdoors guy? Late spring is a great time to visit the Royal Botanical Gardens and enjoy a hike along the many trails or to learn more about the RBG with a guided wildflower walk or Rock Garden tour.
Concerts in the Park
Bring your blanket or lawn chairs to Central Park on Sunday where dad can listen to the world famous Burlington Teen Tour Band as they kick off the summer Concerts in the Park series.
Last but certainly not least – it’s strawberry season in Ontario! Head to Stonehaven Farms to Pick Your Own Strawberries or if you prefer someone else to do the picking stop by the Burlington Mall Farmers’ Market on Saturdays from 9am-2pm or Centro Garden Market on Sundays from 9am to noon.
Of course if you’re looking for a great gift for dad then check out these recommendations from our friends at Mapleview Centre.
