Father’s Day 2019 in #BurlON

by Kelly Harris

Father’s Day is quickly approaching and that special guy in your life deserves to be treated like a king! We’re here to help you with some ideas on what to do with Dad as well as some gift ideas,  to help him celebrate his special day! #BurlON definitely has no shortage of activities for Father’s Day weekend so you’ll be guaranteed to have a fun-filled weekend with Dad!

Fathers Day

Sound of Music Festival

The FREE weekend takes place June 13-16 so make your way to Spencer Smith Park at the lake for a great selection of musical acts. Dad (and everyone in the family) are sure to find something to suit their musical tastes because this festival has it all. Check out the full line-up here. Saturday you won’t want to miss the Grande Festival Parade and don’t miss the Downtown Burlington StreetFest on Brant Street bringing music entertainment and patios to the street.

Springridge Farm

We have no doubt that Dad will enjoy a visit to Springridge Farm on Saturday or Sunday as they have their annual Food Truck Festival. They have a great variety of trucks coming from 11-3 each day. Enjoy the amazing food and then after let the kids play in the Fun Farmyard and Dad can relax and watch them play or join in the fun.

Father’s Day pancake breakfast

Start the day off right for Dad with a special pancake breakfast at Ireland House museum.  Only $5 for 2 pancakes and a drink – first come first served, so enjoy an outdoor breakfast and the beautiful grounds at Ireland House. 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Royal Botanical Gardens Train Exhibit

The train exhibit is back for Father’s Day weekend and is included in your general admission or membership. The Escarpment Train Exhibit illustrates three eras of locomotion history including the steam engines of the late 1800s, the streamliners of the 1930s and the powerful modern diesels of the 1960s up to present day.

After checking out the trains, plan a visit outdoors into the beautiful gardens and enjoy the day at the RBG.

Or get out on your bikes and enjoy a ride along the waterfront trail or one of the other trails in #BurlON

Brunch or Dinner Out

Burlington has so many great restaurants to enjoy. Why not take Dad out for brunch? Our brunch blog has some great ideas for places to check out. Or if dinner is more your thing, choose from one of the many amazing restaurants and make your reservations.

Gift Ideas

Burlington has lots of great places to shop for Dad to find him the perfect gift.  Visit Mapleview Centre  or Burlington Centre. While at Burlington Centre visit the  Denninger’s store and grab some sausages or steaks for a bbq in honour of Dad. We were there and browsed in the new Indigo store and saw a great selection of books for Dad.

We were at Springridge Farm recently and saw some great mugs for Dad. A great size to fit lots of his morning coffee and a great way to show Dad that he’s the best.

Downtown Burlington boasts several great menswear stores and we are confident you’ll find something special at one of these for the Dad on your list.
