Sinead Russell - Olympian - Swimming

Russell is a competitive swimmer who lived in Burlington and swam with the Oakville Dolphins Swim Club.  In 2009 she won the Burlington Female Athlete of the Year award. Sinead participated in the World Championships and Commonwealth Games and in the 2012 Olympics where she finished 8th in the 100m and 200m backstroke.  Russell is the Canadian record holder in the 100m backstroke. She attended the University of Florida on an athletic scholarship.  During her freshman and sophomore seasons as a Gator, she received fourteen All-American honours.  She was sidelined from swimming in 2015 with health issues.
