I am so proud to call Burlington my home; to have grown up in Burlington, and to still be living here today. There are countless memories and experiences that I have had in this great city. Being active and playing outside was a big part of my childhood, whether it was playing road hockey with friends, running around the forest at Westbury Park, or hand cycling on the many bike paths throughout the city. Burlington is, and always has been, a great place to live a healthy and happy lifestyle.
I am most proud of all the support that the city has shown me both during and since the London 2012 Paralympics. One of my all time favourite highlights of my life is being able to win a gold medal, and bring it back home to share with my community. I can’t tell you how many complete and total strangers took time to send me notes of congratulations, or showed up to community events to celebrate and show their support; a true testament to the character of the great people that live in our community! It all meant the world to me, and created lasting memories that I will cherish forever.
Burlington is an ever growing community that is becoming more diverse and accessible to all people; new shops and restaurants are popping up everyday, and the beautiful landscapes throughout the city make Burlington one of the top cities in the world. I am so proud to have been raised here, and I look forward to many more years of living in this great city while raising my own family!
