Family Day Weekend in #BurlON
The Family Day weekend will soon be here and it a great time to reconnect with our loved ones. There lots of things to choose from to keep you busy as you celebrate Family Day.
A time to play!
Nothing is more Canadian than skating and there are a couple of options for you. Burlington arenas are offering public skating, so check online for specific times and locations. You can also head downtown to the Burlington Rotary Centennial Pond to enjoy outdoor skating on the rink overlooking the waterfront. No skates? No problem, take advantage of the free skating lending program (subject to availability).
Get vertical at Glen Eden where you can ski or snowboard one of the many runs from beginner to advanced. Want to try some tricks? Be sure to visit their terrain park for some fun. Remember just because it not snowy in your backyard doesn’t mean it’s not snowy on the hills.
Any day is a great day for a hike so why not hit the trails? Experience winter at Crawford Lake Conservation by going on a Evening Moonlight Snowshoe Hike, on Saturday Feb 16. Explore the trails at Royal Botanical Gardens, Conservation Halton, Bronte Creek Provincial Park or along the Bruce Trail. Don’t forget your “four legged” family members along with their leash.
Fun Starts Here
On Sunday Feb 17 let your inner artist free at the Art Gallery of Burlington Creative Hub Open Studio. Try a variety of hands on art experiences at this drop in event that runs run 1-4pm every Sunday.
On Family Day Feb 18 spend the day at Bronte Creek Provincial Park where they will have hands on activities at the Nature Centre. In addition there are the regular park activities that include the farm animals, children’s playbarn, toboggan hills and more.
Ireland House Museum looks forward to welcoming you on Family Day Feb 18 for their Family Day Event. Learn about local history with a tour of the home, sample food cooked on the historic Rumford hearth, and participate in outdoor activities. Visit the website for details.
Crawl on over to the Royal Botanical Gardens where they are presenting their winter exhibition, Spiders Alive! Explore the behaviours of over 17 species of spiders and other many-legged creatures. If you are afraid of spiders, this exhibition will change your mind! View the exhibits and be sure to leave time for activities and presentations.
