Easter Fun in #BurlON

by Pam Belgrade

We are hopping for joy with spring is right around the corner and this year Easter coming at the end of March there are so many things to see and do in #BurlON.  Check out some of the highlights below:

Museums of Burlington – A Sp’egg’tacular Easter Event

On Saturday March 24 make plans to visit Ireland House at Oakridge Farm between 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  for their annual Easter event.  Kids will have a great time hunting for eggs on the Easter Egg trail and meeting the Easter bunny.  Be sure to leave time for the family friendly activities including crafts, games, face-painting always a kid favorite and more.  Tour the historic home and see how people lived over the years here in Burlington.  Admission is free however there are small costs associated with crafts & activities.

Art Gallery of Burlington – March Hare Tea Party

On Sunday March 25, 2018 from 2-4pm as part of the AGB’s 40th anniversary celebration, they are hosting a formal high tea in support of their permanent collection of Contemporary Canadian Ceramics.  Participants are encouraged to bring your own special teacup and share its story (either true or imaginary) for a chance to win a prize!  Purchase tickets

Burlington Runners Club – Good Friday Road Race

Looking to burn a few calories and have some fun prior to your Easter dinner?  Join the Burlington Runners Club for their Annual Good Friday Races on Friday March 30.  Sign up for the 10 mile race, 5km race, or the 1km Bunny Hop Kids race.  All racers receive a medal and this race is a great family event offering something for every member of the family – including those that prefer to cheer from the sidelines. It’s very festive with lots of bunny ears being donned and a few Easter bunnies milling about.  Sounds like a great time to me, now if I can just find my running shoes.

Lily with BasketConservation Halton – Mountsberg- Easter Egg Extravaganza

Easter weekend (Mar 30 – Apr 1) is the perfect time to visit Mountsberg Conservation Area for their annual Easter Egg Extravaganza. Kids will have a great time at the giant Easter egg hunt along with other themed activities. One of the highlights  for kids is the playbarn and visiting the animals.  Spring is especially wonderful as there are usually new baby animals in the farm yard.  Don’t forget there are also birds of prey and the wildlife walkway before you head home.

Springridge Farms Easter HuntSpringridge Farm – Easter Festival

Lucky for us Springridge Farm is opening just in time for that Easter weekend so we can enjoy their annual Easter festival.  In addition to all the regular family farmyard activities there are also themed activities for Easter.  Kids can join the Easter egg hunt, watch a puppet show, and get their face painted plus so much more.  Be sure to take time for lunch at their BBQ or pop into the bakery for some delicious treats and take some pies home for Easter dinner.  New this year Springridge has announced a new Royal Wedding Jam where they’ve married berry for Harry and sparkle for Markle featuring strawberries grown at Springridge Farm and a splash of Canadian sparkling wine. This exclusive recipe is made in their farm kitchen and will be available when they open for the season on March 29, 2018.
