Easter in Burlington 2017

by Linda Cvetanovic

It’s time for some hip-hop.  Sorry not awesome dance moves (although we’d like to see those too!)…we’re talking Easter and all the great events and activities happening to celebrate Easter in Burlington.

Museums of Burlington – A Sp’egg’tacular Easter Event

On Sunday April 9 make plans to visit Ireland House at Oakridge Farm between 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  for their annual Easter event.  Kids will have a great time hunting for eggs on the Easter Egg trail and meeting the Easter bunny.  Be sure to leave time for the family friendly activities including crafts, games, face-painting (this is always a hit with my kids!) and more.  Tour the historic home and see how people lived over the years here in Burlington.  Admission is free however there are small costs associated with crafts & activities.

Burlington Runners Club – Good Friday Road Race

Looking to burn a few calories and have some fun prior to your Easter dinner?  Join the Burlington Runners Club for their Annual Good Friday Races on April 14.  Sign up for the 10 mile race, 5km race, or the 1km Bunny Hop Kids race (I wonder if they’ll let me in the 1km race).  All racers receive a medal and for my kids this was a highlight. This race is that is a great family event offering something for every member of the family – including those that prefer to cheer from the sidelines. It’s very festive with lots of bunny ears being donned and a few Easter bunnies milling about.  Sounds like a great time to me, now if I can just find my running shoes.

Conservation Halton – Mountsberg- Easter Egg Extravaganza

Easter weekend (Apr. 14-16) is the perfect time to visit Mountsberg Conservation Areafor their annual Easter Egg Extravaganza. Kids will have a great time at the giant Easter egg hunt along with other themed activities. One of the highlights of every trip to Mountsberg with my children is the playbarn and visiting the animals.  Spring is especially wonderful as there are usually new baby animals in the farm yard.  Don’t forget there are also birds of prey and the wildlife walkway before you head home.

Springridge Farm – Easter Festival

Lucky for us that Easter weekend is extra long (Apr 14-16) so we have plenty of time to visit Springridge Farm for their annual Easter festival.  In addition to all the regular family farmyard activities my kids can’t get enough of, there are also themed activities for Easter.  Kids can join the Easter egg hunt, watch a puppet show, and get their face painted plus so much more.  Be sure to take time for lunch at their BBQ or pop into the bakery for some delicious treats (and maybe some to take home too!)
