Culture Days – Get Connected through Arts & Culture

As this national initiative celebrates its tenth anniversary, it is the perfect opportunity for you to get hands-on and behind-the-scenes to discover the world of artists and cultural creators. This year, Culture Days is examining the arts and cultural sector through the lens of creativity, the arts, and well-being. This theme highlights the many ways arts and culture are connected to the well-being of individuals and the vitality of our community.

The Benefits of Arts and Culture

In keeping with this year’s theme of creativity, the arts and well-being, culture improves the communities that we live in, helps us to express ourselves, reduces stress levels, helps us to develop our perspectives, and connects us to humanity and the communities that we live in. Arts and culture encourage civic engagement, promote economic growth, improve mental health and well-being, promote community engagement, and reduce social exclusion and isolation. Other benefits include: improving self-esteem, social skills and social inclusion, providing opportunities to develop new friendships as a support system, building confidence and communication skills, and developing cognitive abilities, critical thinking and problem-solving, to name a few.

Culture Days is the largest collective public participation campaign undertaken by the arts and cultural community in Canada. Every year, thousands of events are connected under the celebratory banner of Culture Days. Communities large and small are united from coast-to-coast-to-coast to celebrate arts and culture.
