#BurlON til May 16
The cherry blossoms are out and Mother’s Day is this weekend- spring has sprung! Still not sure what to get Mom for Mother’s Day or where to take her to make her day special? We have lots of great local ideas in our Mother’s Day blog so make sure to check that out. There are still tickets for the Ireland House Champagne Tea taking place on Saturday. Burlington has so many great restaurants but don’t delay – make sure you make reservations as Mother’s Day is one of the busiest for dining out!
The Burlington Mall Lions Farmers Market is open for the season and celebrating 60 years. Visit them in the south parking lot at Prospect Street on Wednesdays 8-2, Fridays 8-4 and Saturday 8-2 until the end of October.
Centro Market kicks off on Mother’s Day and runs every Sunday from 9 am-noon. This is a great community market – grab a coffee and browse the market, then enjoy a stroll through beautiful Downtown Burlington. This weekend make sure you walk down to Spencer Smith Park to see the cherry blossoms while they are still out!
Why not catch a live show? We’ve got lots of options in town this weekend. See the Top Hat Marching Orchestra “A Night on the Town” on Friday night, Harbourtown Sound ‘Hits from Broadway’ or Heather Bambrick Saturday, or Symphony on the Bay: From Rags to Riches on Sunday at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre. Or catch Curtains at Drury Lane Theatre – a ‘whodunit’ style mystery.
Saturday is Police Day at Halton Police Headquarter at 1151 Bronte Rd, Oakville. The theme is Celebrate Policing and Community Partnerships. This event is rain or shine 10-2 with opening ceremonies at 11 am. Family fun activities and demonstrations.
Take me out to the ballgame….it’s the Burlington Herd season opener at home Saturday. Kitchener will be in town but the fans will be root root rooting for the home team – Go #BurlON! It’s a 1:05 start at Nelson Park.
Get outdoors and enjoy! Discover Lilacs starts Sunday at the RBG from 10-4. It runs daily until May 27th. RBG is offering a Wildlfower Walk on Sunday at 1:30 and a back to Nature Hike from Princess Point. Check their website for times and details.
Plan a visit to one of the beautiful Conservation Halton Parks. Mountsberg has the Raptors in Focus where you can get up close with some amazing birds of prey. Saturday they are offering a Migratory Bird Day and a Frogwatcher’s Hike. Sunday there is a Wildflower Walk for Mom at Crawford Lake.
Enjoy a hike in Bronte Creek Provincial Park and after let the kids play in the playbarn and have a visit with the farm animals.
The All Guilds Show continues at the Art Gallery of Burlington until May 21. Enjoy a stroll through the beautiful gallery and then take a browse through their gift shop – you’ll be sure to find something you like.
Have a wonderful week!
