#BurlON til June 13
June is a busy month in #BurlON and a month that we look forward to all year long. The Sound of Music Festival kicks off this weekend! Saturday June 9 features bands like Sublime with Rome and Simple Plan; Sunday is country day with headliners Kip Moore and Lee Brice. Both days are ticketed and you can still get tickets online so don’t miss out on the fun! After the weekend the live music and fun continues with the Club Series. From June 10-13 see different bands perform at locations like Wendel Clarks, Emma’s BackPorch, 5 West Brewpub, Pepperwood Bistro, the Queens Head pub and more. How does a night of Whisky and Wine sound? Ireland House Museum is hosting a special night of Whisky and wine tasting on Friday from 7-10 pm. Also enjoy hors d’oeurves and a dessert table; book your tickets in advance.
This weekend also marks another great annual festival – Lowville Festival – which occurs in north Burlington, in beautiful Lowville. Enjoy music by Sarah Harmer, Ben Heppner or a dramatical musical presentation called Truth and Illusion. For tickets and more information check the website.
If you want to root root root for the home team; the Burlington Herd that is, then you’re in luck! They have home games on Thursday and Saturday at Nelson Park. Enjoy a baseball game at the field and cheer on the Herd!
The nice weather allows for more activities outside and there are lots of things you can do to get outside and get active. Visit Burlington Beach Rentals at Burlington Beach where they offer Beach Yoga (class on Saturday) as well as Stand up paddleboarding yoga. For their full class schedule, check here.
Conservation Halton offers lots of ways to get outdoors and get active; visit one of their parks and enjoy a hike or Sunday you can take part in their Try It series and try Mountain biking if you haven’t before. That’s taking place at Hilton Falls. Mountsberg Conservation is a great park to visit with the kids as they feature a fabulous playbarn as well as their Raptor Centre and Sunday they have a special Raptors in Focus session, where you can take up-close photos with some of their raptors..
You can take part in outdoor exercise classes on Sunday mornings – Fit in the Core is offered in Downtown Burlington outside Civic Square every Sunday morning from 10-11. This weeks class is a free Interval Training class. Or if you’d prefer yoga, you can enjoy a Yoga class in beautiful Lowville Park from 10:30-11:30.
June is a beautiful month to visit the Royal Botanical Gardens as they celebrate Iris’ and Peonies. This is the last weekend so plan your visit so you don’t miss out on the sights and scents. They always have events and different flowers in bloom so anytime is a good time to visit. Enjoy lunch during your visit at the Rock Garden Cafe or the Greenhouse Cafe.
It’s market season and Burlington has a couple you can choose from this week. Visit the Burlington Mall Lions Farmers Market at Burlington Mall on Wednesday, Friday or Saturday and stock up on local produce, flowers, meat and baked goods. Or visit Centro Garden Market on Sunday morning from 9-12. Grab a coffee and stroll through the vendors and after why not grab brunch out?
