#BurlON til July 3

by Guest Writer

It’s a great time to visit #BurlON and enjoy the beautiful summer weather! With plenty of events such as open houses at Freeman Station, or the celebration of Canada Day in Spencer Smith Park, there’s plenty to do to stay busy this week. Here are some things we recommend for the upcoming week.

Canada Day

Celebrate our country’s birthday in Spencer Smith Park for Canada Day. Enjoy free entertainment and Canadian-inspired activities all day, starting at 2 pm. There are performances from dancers and #BurlON’s own Teen Tour Band, with the day culminating in a spectacular firework show over the waterfront. So wear your red and white and we’ll see you at the park!

Party on Plains

On Thursday June 27 from 6-9 pm visit Aldershot Village for a giant Party on Plains. There will be 3 locations along Plains Road to enjoy live music as well as local businesses providing treats and specials. Lots of fun and games for all ages and it’s free!

Freeman Station

The historic 1906 Grand Trunk Railway Station is hosting Open House Days, with one occurring on Canada Day. Learn about the history of one of the last surviving Grand Trunk Railway stations, including its role in the war and transportation of people and fresh goods throughout the GTA. We had the pleasure of visiting Freeman Station on an Open House Day and we got to see the amazing work done by the volunteers as well as the diorama of life in the village of Freeman in the Lower Level. Check online for dates of other Open House Days in the future. This is definitely a must see in #BurlON.

Make a Splash this Summer

All of the outdoor pools in Burlington are now officially open for summer. Have fun in our various pools and splash parks all summer- the perfect way to have fun and stay cool! For details about specific pools, check online.  Also make sure you check out Bronte Creek Provincial Park for their amazing pool. It’s open June 29-September 2 from 11-6 daily.  The pool is 1.8 acres in size, so a great way to beat the heat this summer!
