Burlington Performing Arts

by Pam Belgrade

If you are a Burlington resident and have teens you may have heard them call their hometown Borelington referring to the lack of things to do here however for a city of it’s size we can boast about our fantastic music, theatre and comedy scene that appeal to a variety of ages and tastes.

This spring several of the local companies are presenting shows and those we are aware of are featured below but we would suggest that you check out the websites for more events and activities as they become confirmed. Visit: Aldershot Players, Burlington Teen Tour & Concert Bands, Burlington Student Theatre, Drury Lane Theatre, Theatre Burlington, Koogle Theatre Co. and Tottering BiPed Theatre.

Several of the local clubs and restaurants feature entertainment on selected days. Recently Pepperwood Bistro was the location for a pop-up concert for the Junos and featured Juno nominee Jeremy Fisher. What a great location to get up close and personal with this talented artist who performed an acoustic set. Refer to our entertainment page, follow our social media or sign up for our free Visitor enewsletter for more details on local entertainment. This Enews is sent seasonally 5x/year and highlights events in the Burlington area and is a great resource to plan your family activities or when you have visiting friends and family and are looking for things to do. Also refer to the events calendar located on the City of Burlington website.

Opened in 2011 the beautiful Burlington Performing Arts Centre plays host to a number of events throughout the year. Every time I am at the theatre for an event whether it is a business meeting, reception or performance I always get a surge of pride in having a facility of this caliber in our city. A group of us are going to the Just for Laughs comedy show in April and I am looking forward to seeing a great performance and going out for dinner at one of the amazing downtown restaurants and indulging in some local cuisine. The new season 2015-16 will be announced at the end of May but there are still numerous performances coming up this spring for you to enjoy.

Treat yourself or someone close to you to a great experience in Burlington, Ontario.
