2018 – Get Fit in #BurlON

Canada’s 150th year may be over but that doesn’t mean we should forget about the 150 suggestions we gave you last year on how to stay active and enjoy Burlington. After all, isn’t that #1 on all our new years resolution list, especially after all those delicious family dinners over the holidays?  Here are Tourism we have been enjoying our share of holiday treats and are so glad Burlington has plenty of fitness facilities and activities to chose from whether you are a resident or visiting friends and family.

New Year, New Gyms

Fit in the CoreNew Year, new you, and this year, new gyms around town. Move with Movati Athletic, whether its weights, cycling, group classes, swimming, or you’re there to zen, Movati Athletic has it for you. It is a state of the art facility with a separate women’s only gym and a personal favourite anti-gravity group classes.  Want to move your body but not your budget, new for 2018 as well is Planet Fitness?  No commitment, budget friendly that will get you off the couch from technologies to a judgment free zone. Did I mention there are hydromassage and tanning?  Besides the new locations there are several old favorites and some clubs have reciprocal agreements if you are visiting here.  Also most of  our local hotels have workout rooms and/or pools to chase away those winter blues and some let locals use these for a daily fee.

Family Fitness Time

Our kids often get us up and moving and make better trainers than youtube videos and at home fitness DVD’s.   There are lots of kid friendly places in the city where they can play and the big kids can try to keep up:

Zen Out

If you have never tried yoga or pilates, this is the year to give it a go!  Keep Calm and embrace 2018, the stress-free way, at these local studios in Burlington:

Pump up your Cardio with Dance

Whether you Folk Dance, Zumba 24-7, or were just inspired by the Nutcracker performance, then these places will definitely get you shaking and toe-tapping this year:

If you want to invite friends and family to join you on a fitness trek we have a great resource Halton Hikes Loops and Lattes by Nicola Ross at the Visitor Information Centre which is ideal inspiration for exploring all the great trails in Halton all year long.

However you decide to welcome 2018, be sure to be safe, alert, and listen to your body when exercising.
