This Weekend in Burlington – July 15/16

School is out and summer vacation is in full swing. Searching for ways to entertain the kids this weekend? Look no further. You don’t even have to leave the city. Here are your weekend events for July 15 and 16.

Nature Connects® art with LEGO® Bricks – Daily to August 20

Take a stroll through the Royal Botanical Gardens’ Hendrie Park and explore the 14 works of art created with Lego by New York artist, Sean Kenney.  Kids will have a great time at the Build Centre creating their own masterpieces. Be sure to pick up an activity book and check the daily schedule for guided tours.

The RBG weekend events include guided tours/walks, an Introduction to Herbal Medicine,  Edible Weekends, and a chance to Paddle in Paradise.

Concerts in the Park – Sundays and Wednesdays to August 13

Concerts in the Park continue on July 16 at 7:30pm with a Brass performance from The Weston Silver Band. Visit the Central Park Bandshell for free musical entertainment every Sunday and Wednesday until August 13. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Check the event website for the up-to-date lineup.

Farmers’ Markets – Friday-Sunday to October

Load up on farm fresh items and shop local producers at one of our two farmers’ markets.  Friday (8am to 4pm) and Saturday (8am to 2pm) visit the Burlington Mall Lions Farmers’ Market. On Sunday (9am to 12pm) head to downtown Burlington for the Centro Garden Farm Market.

Open Studio Workshop – Sundays

Join the Art Gallery of Burlington in their Creative Hub for a drop-in art studio workshop every Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. 

 Fit In The Core – Sundays to August 20

Burlington’s Fit In The Core sessions continue on July 16 from 10am to 11am with a HIIT: Fat Loss class presented by Beauchamp Fitness & Nutrition. After you’ve burned fat and gotten your metabolism revved, Bodhi Bar will be distributing samples. Every Sunday there is a different open air fitness class outside City Hall. Bring your mat and water bottle.

Summer Fair and Farm Expo At Country Heritage Park – July 14 to 16

This event is a chance to visit heritage buildings, learn about the community’s agriculture contributions and innovations, and then have a blast at the midway, classic car show, and Tractor and Truck Super Pull.

Burlington Herd vs Kitchener Panthers – July 15

The Burlington Herd will be taking on the Kitchener Panthers at Nelson Park on July 15. Game starts at 1:05pm. The 15 is First Responders Day. Check out the Herd’s website to purchase tickets and for their full game schedule. Come cheer on these hometown athletes!

National Parks Day – July 15

National Parks Day takes place annually on the third Saturday of July. Bronte Creek has ongoing education programs, guided walks, entertainment, and heritage experiences until September.  Check out this website for all of the celebrations across Ontario.

Family Fishing Derby – July 15

Bring your fishing rods and licenses to Robert Edmondson Conservation area for family fun. Practice your casting skills and  learn about the ecosystem for a chance to win prizes. For fees and event details check the event page.

Burlington is a busy and vibrant city. There are many more opportunities to enjoy the weather and engage in the community this weekend…
