Formed in 2006, the Burlington Hotel Association (BHA) is a registered not for profit organization of 6 Burlington hotels,  The Comfort Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites, Best Western Hotel and Suites, Travelodge Burlington on the Lake, and the Holiday Inn Burlington Hotel and Conference Centre. These hotels have volunteered to collect a Destination Marketing Fee (DMF) in order to enhance marketing of Burlington as a destination for visitors.

Most major cities in Canada and the United States have a similar fee to generate funding for promoting, selling and marketing their city. This 3% fee is applied to the room only portion of the guest bill at the participating Burlington Hotels. The funds raised through this fee will be directed to Tourism Burlington to assist in the development of new marketing campaigns for Burlington.

Funds generated through the DMF help to support a number of initiatives directed at marketing Burlington as a destination of choice for visitors. Recent activities include:

  • Event Funding Program - over $100,000 in grants to assist non-profit groups hosting local events
  • Time Out - sponsorship of networking sessions for community sport enthusiasts
  • Visit Burlington DVD's - showcasing leisure activities and meeting facilities to potential visitors
  • Tourism Burlington Website re-design
  • Tourism Burlington Virtual Tour updating 2009
  • Welcome to Burlington banners at events and in BHA hotels
  • Marketing Campaign - The Rest is Easy
  • Burlington Coupon books - 25,000 copies distributed to visitors
  • Tourism Burlington advertising - in key tourist magazines, visitor centres, trade shows, websites across Ontario and border cities
  • Visitor Services expansion in summer season at waterfront and information booths at major festivals
  • Meeting and Convention marketing including local Bring it Home - This is Our Backyard campaign
  • Translation of welcome brochures into French and Japanese and Dutch.
  • Burlington Chamber of Commerce Student Endowment Fund - donation
  • Team Burlington Business Summit - sponsor
