Famous People Born or Who have Lived in Burlington
Burlington has its share of famous personalities that have helped shape our city. The following is the criteria used to determine if Burlingtonians are “famous”:
Criteria
- Has lived for a period of time in Burlington (1 year minimum) OR
- Was born in Burlington
- Has received national or international recognition in their field and have career longevity (see below)
- Received Order of Canada or Ontario
- Professional athlete, coach, trainer
- Amateur athlete who has won medals in international competitions
- Radio/TV personalities, actors, musicians, writers who have received national acclaim
- Historic figures who are recognized in Canadian history
- Have been recognized by another local organization for national or international acclaim (see below)
- Burlington Sport Hall of Fame
- Burlington Entrepreneur of the Year Award
